Born in West Toronto, built by local parents who wanted to create something special for their kids and the entire neighbourhood.
The JunXion owners, Vince and James, are a couple of local Torontonians right here from The Junction and West Toronto neighbourhoods. They both have kids that act as the inspiration for the creation of this all-encompassing venue.
If you ask Vince, he'll tell you: "I just wanted to do something that my kids will love coming to and something they'd be excited to tell their friends about."
James will tell you a similar story if he's asked about what compelled him to get into such a huge venture, but also adds: "Since Covid decimated many businesses we were involved with, our gut was telling us to rise to the challenge instead of complaining about the pandemic."
Indeed, with nothing to lose and their kids in mind, they started the journey of opening The JunXion — right here on Dundas Street West, serving families in The Junction, Roncesvalles, Bloor West Village, High Park, Royal York, Kingsway, and the entire West Toronto community.
There have been many stressful, sleepless nights, but Vince will tell you that being an entrepreneur means that you should expect difficult challenges.
"We are not multi-national corporations and that means we don't have the same kind of deep pockets to throw at problems to make them go away."
He pauses. "I actually live a few kilometres down St. Clair Ave. I'm as local as you can get with this type of project."
James has run a few successful small businesses, one of which was the gym that used to be in the place of The JunXion's current location.
"Sometimes being so grass roots means delays will be exacerbated and cause more delays for small business owners like us. But we got through it. It wasn't always easy. We were determined."
The JunXion opened its doors on October 26, 2024. Vince smiles when asked about the Grand Opening:
"We're so excited and a little relieved, to be honest. We hope people like it as much as our kids do."
Proudly serving families throughout West Toronto including The Junction, Junction Triangle, Roncesvalles, Bloor West Village, High Park, Bloor-Runnymede, Royal York, and Kingsway.
